Since we’re just over a week away from this year’s Super Bowl, I thought that a NFL-related post would be timely and interesting. Believe it or not, the National Football League has it’s own physicians’ organization. The NFLPS (National Football League Physicians Society) includes team doctors from all of the league’s 32 teams. Their annual meeting which takes place in Indianapolois each February coincides with the League’s annual combine where 400-500 draft prospects are checked out both on the field and in the medical exam room. These doctors get to inspect the league’s future stars to make sure they are healthy enough to compete as gridiron warriors. This is the teams’ opportunity to medically “kick the tires” of its prospects. With so much financially at risk with and invested in its players, top-drawer physicians are a crucial behind-the-scenes element to successful teams.

You can learn more about the NFLPS by visiting www.nflps.org.

As your blog host I wouldn’t be remaining objective if I’d mention that I’ll be rooting for the Steelers next weekend. Please consider sending me your ideas and articles to be posted on this site. I can be reached at rick@kingforms.com
