Millions of professionals have entered the world of social networking. Once the domain of their children, social networking web sites have “grown up” to become a powerful business networking tool for adults.

The web site LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com) provides an easy-to-use online meeting place to connect with like-minded professionals. I’ve been a member for the better part of a year and have found it a great way to meet new professional contacts, share business ideas and find answers to business questions. In short, it helps me to spend less time “reinventing the wheel” and allows me to focus more on my real work. Basic membership is free, while there are a few paid options available that allow for additional functions.

A quick search of the current LinkedIn membership only reveals a few members listing their DMGMA membership. If you’re already a LinkedIn member, why not take a minute to update your profile to display your pride and interest in our group? My profile even includes a live feed from the DMGMA blog.

If you don’t have a LinkedIn profile, consider adding yourself to the site. You don’t need to post your contact info on the web, and you can control and edit your own contact settings any time. The more DMGMA members who list their membership, the greater exposure we can gain with prospective members. Additionally, if there’s enough interest from our membership we can even set up a DMGMA group logo on the site.

Please let us know your thoughts on this and other oppotunities to grow our ranks.

I’m really looking forward to hearing from those of you reading these posts!
